When we started Virtue® there was no IBI. We were just two individuals, who had a dream to make a difference in the world we served. How could we make a dream a reality and have it be truly Inspired? Truly in service to our intent to create a fragrance that would serve a Spiritual purpose.
To truly serve the Spiritual side of humanity. The key... was the fragrance. And the key to the proper fragrance was Spirit, Itself.
To help with the focus, we drew on the Spiritual roots that we had grown-up with. We turned to the Bible and let Spirit guide us through the process of picking and choosing the right elements to include in the fragrance. This included allowing apparent set backs to be a source of guidance and inspiration.
Virtue® wasn't even our first choice as a name. We learned our initial preference was taken by a major corporation. Although it looked like it might be coming available in less than a year, we had to decide if we would wait and see. We made a list of names and prayed for guidance. Virtue kept standing out. So, on Virtue we settled. We had no idea what we had chosen.
A year later, while doing some research on the name, we became aware that Virtue was actually
associate with fragrance the world over. In practically all religions and Spiritual practices, persons
of high Spiritual attainment are known to give off a fragrance, attributed to their Virtue. Christ, many of the Saints, and numerous others with highly developed spirituality, are, historically, known to have given off such a fragrance.
We truly felt guided. That Spirit, through our Intent & Faith, had led us to the very name that
embodied our intent. We were creating a fragrance to remind one of God and their Spiritual Self, when highly Spiritualized
individuals are known to give off a fragrance. In other words,
we were creating a fragrance to lead people to their own Virtue,
the Heart of Hearts, in us all. That formless part of ourselves,
our Spirit. The very thing that links us all . . .
"ALL" to the ALL.
. . . the Eternal, Omniscient, Universal, Godly Presence, that resides at the
Heart of each of us.
Such a commitment was not without its challenges. Many of those around us wanted us to
develop our fragrance base on the 3 second rule; try to grab a potential customer's nose and turn
their attention in the first 3 seconds of exposure. Such a bending to the normal process would
have only produced an ordinary fragrance. We refused, repeatedly, as we struggle to bring our
fragrance to completion. To get it right.
What was right? When the Spirit let us know, through both, an inner knowing and outer worldly
confirmation. The worldly confirmation was a process of holding to our Inspirations, even when
our "deadlines" were not met. Holding our Faith, when money and circumstances were not always
in alignment with our intent to move ahead. Even, when our suppliers delayed us by either internal
practices or personal bias.
For 6 years, we have kept our Intent & Faith intact to bring you Virtue, the perfume. May you
enjoy it's unique fragrance. Hold it in Sacred regard as a means to train yourself to readily
contact your Spiritual Self and it will serve both your worldly fragrance needs and provide a
means of focusing your Spiritual Intent.
May Virtue?lead you to your Virtue; and fulfill our Intent to remind you of God, your spiritual life and . . .
BE . . .
A Blessing to One and ALL.
Virtue: The LOGO
Welcome to the Virtue® Logo web page. This page is for those of you, who have wondered about our logo and how it was created and if it has any meaning. We accept this curiosity with welcome arms, as a perfect opportunity to illustrate one of the many ways of how the “Be Inspired" process works. Some of you may find this rudimentary, but it isn’t the details, it’s the “spirit?that really needs to be captured here. A few moments of consideration of how we created this logo and a review of the history of the fragrance will give you a cross section of experience, that, together, give a synergy to be drawn from for your own inspirational process.
We needed a logo. We had a fragrance, we were still working on, and a logo to represent the fragrance and the concept, seemed timely. Our "intent" was to create a fragrance that would remind a person of God, their Spiritual or Christ Self. It doesn’t matter what you call this formless part of yourself, it is the reality and "Presence" of IT, that we were seeking to reinforce in the lives of the fragrance users. To enhance their ability to Be aware of that state of consciousness at any given moment, instantaneously. What would the Logo that would represent such an experience look like?
The Inspiration for the logo would follow the same process, we were using for the fragrance. Letting ourselves be guided inspirationally seemed to be the most prudent course of action. Knowing our Intention for the fragrance made it a simple process for the Logo. You simply take the intent to the Still Presence, within, knowing that it will provide, and begin.
The first thing that came was to make an ellipse or oval. Then, drew another. And, another. And, kept drawing them, until a feeling of satisfaction was present. Stopping, we had a grouping of intersecting ovals. The inspiration was to begin shading in areas where they over lapped, in playful spirit, like one would do in a coloring book. What emerged was the Logo, you now see on the bottle. The creative process stopped when a feeling Satisfied was present. How well did it work? Let’s see.
The first thing one noticed is there is a "V", maybe it stands for "Virtue®" or, maybe "Virtue" or both. In the middle of the "V" something is emerging. A flower, a lily, a symbol of Virtue. A trumpet heralding a new emergence of Self was coming from the "V", virtue.
The first thing that most people see is a Fleur de Lys. This aspect brings home an element in the fragrance itself, an Iris, the flower that lends it structure to the Fleur de Lys, a symbol associated with both Marys, Mother Mary & Mary Magdalene, as well as Royalty. Iris is actually in the fragrance. The iris symbolizes purity and the rainbow, long a symbol of the covenant between God and Man. The Mary's are both held, in most circles, as symbols of Virtue, personified.
One of the more common allusions drawn from the Virtue® symbol is that the 2 ends of the “V" look like the heads of two swans, with a lily between them. Swans and lilies are both long associated as symbols of virtue.
Some see a dove descending, a sign of the Holy Spirit. Others see a stylized cross with a halo crowning the center. Yet, some see the 3 in 1 as a symbol of the Holy Trinity.
Whatever your personal take on this Logo, you have to admit, a lot of symbolism has dove tailed(no pun intended) into this one symbol for Virtue® that compliments the original intent and prayers of it’s creators. None, the least of which, was the inspiring influence of the Holy Spirit. Much can be said for the Inspirational process. that can bring so much into a simple logo for a perfume. Divine guidance, indeed.
"Be Inspired!"
